For fans of beloved NBC comedy The Office, one of the most memorable episodes is "Stress Relief" from season five. During the two-part episode, Michael Scott arranges a CPR training session for his employees at Dunder Mifflin. Things go horribly wrong, of course, because this is The Office, after all.
When the women in charge of teaching everyone CPR instructs Michael to pump the chest at 100 beats per minute, she says singing along to 'Staying Alive' by the Bee Gees will help him stay on track. Michael hilariously starts pumping along to "I Will Survive" by Aretha Franklin instead and chaos ensues.
Here's the clip to freshen your memory:
While Michael and the rest of the gang at Dunder Mifflin may not have learned anything from the CPR lesson, somebody watching the show certainly did. According to Arizona Daily Star, a man named Cross Scott, sprung into action when he came across a woman slumped over in her car. The woman's lips were blue and needed to be resuscitated immediately.
"I had no idea what I was doing," Scott told reporters of his heroic actions. But then, he remembered "Stress Relief" from The Office and began performing CPR, singing along to "Staying Alive" by the Bee Gees. The woman began to breathe again after a minute of CPR. She reportedly threw up and then the paramedics arrived 10 minutes later. The paramedics told Scott that without his help, things could have turned out much differently. It turns out, binge-watching your favorite show 12 times can literally save lives!
