For anyone who's ever seen a Billie Eilish music video (or her When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? album art), it's no surprise that the 17-year-old loves creepy visuals. But where exactly does that inspiration stem from? The anti-pop star recently fielded questions via Instagram Stories. When asked "What inspired the cover art for the album?" she responded "100% this drawing," and posted the image below — a sketch from the 2014 cult horror film, The Babadook.
After revealing that info, another fan asked if she's ever seen the movie. “One of my favorite movies in the world," she wrote over the image below. "The babadook was the complete main inspiration for wwafawdwg.”
In a recent video, Eilish divulged that she has synesthesia, and the ways in which is affects her music. “I think visually first with everything I do, and also I have synesthesia, so everything that I make I’m already thinking of what color it is, and what texture it is, and what day of the week it is, and what number it is, and what shape," she explained. "We both have it [she and brother Finneas], so we think about everything this way.”
The young star is currently taking her creepy show on the road. Check out her remaining tour dates below.
