It’s been 50 years since the Beatles called it quits in 1970, and while there was no official statement from the legendary band the culmination of moments from the late 60s resulted in the end of the group. Thankfully, while it’s been five decades since we said goodbye to the Beatles, their music is still as popular and beloved to this day. People around the world even celebrate Global Beatles Day on June 25 to commemorate the band’s performance on the BBC program Our World in 1967 and celebrate their gift of music and songs to the world. 1. There's a theory that claims Paul McCartney died in a car crash on November 9th, 1966 and was replaced by a look-a-like named Billy Shears.
2. BBC banned "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" and "I Am the Walrus" because of inappropriate lyrical content.
3. The only album tracks credited to all four of the Beatles are "Flying" and "Dig It."
4. Who introduced the Beatles to marijuana? Bob Dylan!
5. John Lennon's middle name was Winston but he changed it to Ono after marrying Yoko in 1969.
6. The Beatles were named the best artists of all time by Rolling Stone in 2004.
7. Of course, the Beatles played instruments, but none of them could read music.
8. In 1965, John, Paul, George, and Ringo played a 35-minute show in Minneapolis. Their payout? $90,000!
9. 73 million people watched the Beatles on "The Ed Sullivan Show."
