Dunkin' Donuts is getting into the plant-based meat game with their newest menu item. Dunkin' is partnering with Beyond Meat for the Beyond Sausage Breakfast Sandwich, which is currently only available at Manhattan locations. After it's initial run in NYC, Dunkin' hopes to add the meatless sausage sandwich to menus nationwide.
The latest breakfast sandwich features a Beyond Meat sausage patty, as well as an egg, and slice of American cheese. They're placed on a toasted english muffin and, just like that, you've got a vegetarian sausage sandwich ready to go. The menu item has 10 grams of plant-based protein. The suggested retail price is $4.29, according to Dunkin's press release.
"Dunkin' is truly an iconic brand and part of the fabric of so many communities. Partnering with them as the first U.S. restaurant chain to serve Beyond Breakfast Sausage represents not only an exciting moment for both of our companies, but a big step forward in making plant-based meat accessible and easy to enjoy, even while on-the-go," Ethan Brown, founder and CEO of Beyond Meat, said in a statement about the collaboration. "I look forward to seeing consumer reactions to the product offering and partnership."
Dunkin' is the latest fast food chain to include a plant-based meat substitute on their menus. Burger King recently announced a meatless whopper option on their menu, which was met with high praise from customers. Will you be trying the new Beyond Sausage Breakfast Sandwich?
