Jonathan Van Ness is grieving the loss of his pet this week.

On Tuesday night (August 6), the Queer Eye star's cat, Bug the 2nd, died after falling out of an open window while he was asleep. Van Ness announced the terrible news in an emotionally-sensitive Instagram the morning after the incident.

"At some point last night while I slept my baby Bug fell from an open window and passed away. I’m hurting so bad today I can’t put it into words, for anyone else experiencing grief & loss, I’m with you," Van Ness captioned a touching selfie with the black feline cuddled at his side.

"I’m sharing this mainly because if you see me around the next few days I won’t be my typical happy self and that’s okay," he continued. "Not sure how I’m going to make this loss mean something more but in the meantime, please make a donation to an animal shelter near you."

In light of the unfortunate incident, the 32-year-old's Queer Eye castmates left Van Ness words of love and support. "Love you," wrote friend Antoni Porowski with a heart emoji, as Tan France also added, " Love you, JVN."

The tragedy hits even harder knowing Van Ness had adopted Bug the 2nd in September 2018 in an effort to cope after losing his beloved 13-year-old cat, Bug, just a month prior. At the time, the star wrote in Bug's memory: “Loving you is the best thing that ever happened to me. Rest In Peace my beautiful baby, the world will never look quite the same to me without you in it."
