Best Moments From 2019 Global Citizen Festival: Queen, Alicia Keys & More

More than 60,000 people gathered in the middle of the Great Lawn of Central Park on Saturday (September 28) for the eighth annual Global Citizen Festival. The festival joins musical performances with activism as it aims to end extreme poverty throughout the world by 2030 and kicks off a yearlong campaign called Global Goal Live: The Possible Dream.

Among the many artists to take the Global Citizen stage this year were Queen and Adam Lambert, Pharrell Williams, Alicia Keys, H.E.R., Kelly Clarkson, OneRepublic, French Montana, Ben Platt, Carole King, Jon Batiste and more. A number of celebs additionally lent their voices to support Global Citizens’ message including Taraji P. Henson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Hugh Jackman, Iman, Becky G, Bill Nye, Dakota Johnson, Kal Penn, Laverne Cox, Rami Malek, and Chris Martin.

In addition to fighting to end extreme poverty, many celebs used their platforms during the five-hour festival to talk about climate change, women empowerment, education equality, and infectious diseases.
