Premiere Of Summit Entertainment's "Twilight" - Arrivals

Though Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson remained tightlipped about their romance while they were together, Stewart has recently opened up about her former relationship while promoting her upcoming film Charlie's Angels. Despite their split in 2013, which Stewart described as "incredibly painful," the two have remained friends. Stewart's continued fondness for her ex was apparent during a recent interview, calling him "the best" and even admitting she would've married him if he asked.

Not only did Stewart discuss her relationship with her Twilight co-star, she also explained why they decided to keep their romance as private as possible during the series heyday. The former couple apparently wanted to "keep [the relationship] ours" and debated over how best to handle it publicly. Stewart explained they decided to "put it on lock" to try to protect it from tabloids and paparazzi, however, that situation had its drawbacks. "You deprive yourself of so many experiences," she explained. "We didn't walk down the street holding hands because we were like, 'We don't wanna give it to 'em.' But then, we didn't get to walk down the street holding hands, and it sucked."

Stewart also went on to say she didn't talk about Pattinson publicly at the time because she was "so self-conscious about seeming like an attention-seeker." Despite the pitfalls of dating in the public eye, Stewart said they "were together for years" and said Pattinson "was my first [love]."

When asked if she would have married Pattinson if he'd asked, Stewart admitted she "wanted to" marry him when they were together. "I'm not a super duper traditionalist, but at the same time...every relationship I've ever been in, I thought that was it. I've never really been the most casual person," she explained.
