Goo Hara, K-pop star and television personality, has died. She was 28.

Billboard reports an acquaintance of Hara's discovered the star dead at her Seoul home in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam, on Sunday (November 24), according to police. Hara's cause of death is under investigation and authorities have declined to provide further details on her passing.

In 2008, Hara rose to K-pop stardom as a member of the girl group Kara, which became a huge sensation in Asian countries such as South Korea and Japan. Following her tenure with the band, Hara went on to pursue solo artistry and later appeared on television shows such as 2011's City Hunter. She released her debut solo EP, Alohara (Can You Feel It?), in July 2015, spawning singles like "How About Me?" and "Choco Chip Cookies."

Hara's death comes after the star was hospitalized on May 26 for reported attempted suicide. It was reported, at the time, that her manager is who discovered Hara unconscious. According to BBC, Hara broke her silence with a statement of apology for causing "concerns and a commotion" amongst fans after the incident.

In 2018, Hara made headlines again in light of accusations of assault made against her by an ex-boyfriend, whom Hara also alleged had threatened to disseminate a sex video of her online.

Hara is the second K-pop star to pass away after Sulli of f(x) was also discovered dead on October 14. The musician, who was 25 at the time of her death, was found by her manager on the second floor of her Seongnam home.
