If Batman is your favorite superhero, Robert Pattison has some bad news for you. According to the 33-year-old actor, Batman isn't a real superhero like Superman or Wonder Woman. While not everybody will agree with Pattinson, who's set to play the caped crusader in an upcoming trilogy, he has an interesting supporting argument.

Batman’s not a superhero,” Pattinson said in a recent NBC News interview. “It’s weird. I always balk at it. I’m like, it doesn’t count. You need to have, like, magical powers to be a superhero.”

It seems like Matt Reeves, the director of Pattinson's new Batman film, agrees with his star. While chatting with the Hollywood Reporter a few months ago, Reeves revealed fans are going to see a much different version of Batman in his movies. He described the new trilogy as “very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale.”

“It’s told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional,” Reeves continued. “It’s more Batman in his detective mode that we’ve seen in the films. The comics have a history of that. [Bruce Wayne] is supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been.”

A number of A-List actors, including Christian Bale, Ben Affleck and George Clooney, have brought Batman to the big screen over the years. Reeves and Pattinson appear keen on doing something new with the iconic comic book character. “I’d love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime," Reeves added. "It’s going to allow his character to have an arc that he can go through a transformation.”
