Sharon Osbourne will not be spending Christmas with her husband Ozzy Osbourne.

According to Blabbermouth, the Talk co-host and the rock star will be celebrating the holidays separately for the first time in 40 years. As Sharon reportedly explained during a recent appearance on the British daytime talk show Loose Women, she will stay in London and Ozzy will remain in the United States due to the musician’s ongoing health issues.

“He’s going to stay home with [son] Jack and [daughter] Amy and the grandkids and I’m here [in London] with [daughter] Kelly,” Sharon said. “It’s the first time — this will be our 40th Christmas — that we’re not together. It’s going to be different. Kelly and I are going out for our Christmas lunch.”

The decision comes months after the operation Ozzy underwent after sustaining injuries from a falling incident at his home in Los Angeles. “He fell and damaged his spine. It’s kind of been a domino effect, one thing happens then another thing. The doctors didn’t want him to get on the plane,” she explained. “And Ozzy, I must say, is quite nervous about flying all that way.”

As previously reported, the fall dislodged metal rods in Ozzy's neck that had been placed there after the ATV crash he endured in 2003. The incident landed him in the hospital for two months and will require rehab treatment for the remainder of 2019.

It’s been a tough time for Ozzy, whose maladies as of late have included everything from a near-fatal staph infection he suffered in late-2018 to battles with both the flu and pneumonia that kept him hospitalized for several weeks.

Ozzy recently told Daily Mail via NME that despite the slow improvements he’s made since his surgery, “I’m getting better, but … waking up in the morning and being unable to move is a miserable existence.”
