Before things get too jolly in your home for the Christmas holiday, you may want to check your fridge. According to a recall notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, hard-boiled eggs and other egg products are being recalled from stores nationwide, thanks to a deadly listeria outbreak.

According to the recall notice, products made with eggs, including nearly 80 different hard-boiled egg varieties sold by more than 30 brands have been recalled by Almark Foods of Gainesville, Georgia. Products made with eggs, including two varieties of salads sold at Trader Joe's, have been recalled over concerns they may be contaminated with listeria, which can cause deadly infections in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems.

Other brands affected by the recall include Egglands Best, Pete & Gerry's and Vital Farms.

Consumers who have Trader Joe's Egg Salad in 6-ounce quantities and 20-ounce containers of Trader Joe's Old Fashioned Potato Salad dated best by Dec. 27 are being pulled from the shelves by Bakkavor Foods USA, the recall notice said.

Officials say the products may have become contaminated by broke egg white products supplied by Almark, which could contain Listeria monocytogenes.

The recall is part of a multistate outbreak that began on Dec. 18, and is being monitored by officials at the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. At least seven people in five states have become ill, with four people hospitalized and at least one death reported.
