The Jonas Brothers surprised fans with the sweetest Christmas present with the release of their new song “Jersey.”

The song, which originally appeared in the band’s Chasing Happiness documentary over the summer, was officially released on Christmas Eve (December 24) and is now available worldwide. “Surprise!! #Jersey is now available on all streaming platforms for you guys. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!” brothers Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas announced from the group’s Instagram account along with exclusive footage of the bandmates recording the track.

“Jersey” has been in high demand since it first premiered in the JoBros’ Amazon Prime film project in June. “We weren't meant to get out of Jersey/ Two stops past the parkway/ And that old cemetery/ We weren’t born to grow in a hurry,” Joe sings in the ode to the brothers’ hometown, before leading into the poignant duet chorus with Nick, “Like hey, where you goin’?/ Don't you want to talk about it/ Before you walk away.”

As revealed in a previous interview with Hypable, the Jonas Brothers wrote “Jersey” just a month prior to releasing their first record in 10 years, Happiness Begins. In sharing how the song was born, Nick explained: “So the album was done about a month and a half, two months ago … But we watched the first cut of the documentary, and one of the lines that stood out to us was when we said, ‘We weren’t supposed to get out of Jersey.”
