Truly iconic! J Balvin phoned into On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Wednesday, February 5, following the history-making 2020 Super Bowl halftime performance on Sunday, February 2.
J Balvin joined Jennifer Lopez, Shakira and Bad Bunny onstage during the Super Bowl LIV halftime show in Miami, marking the first-ever all Latino performance at the annual sporting event. Demi Lovato was also on hand to perform the National Anthem.
“Usually I don’t go out, but I went out until like 7 in the morning,” J Balvin admitted on-air to Ryan Seacrest, revealing how the group celebrated the performance, which is now the most-viewed halftime show on YouTube. “… Really I never party, but this time, I was like you know what? I mean we deserved that! [I’m just] so grateful, super grateful to be in that Super Bowl and represent the Latino gang.”
The “Mi Gente” singer shared that they trained hard prior to the performance, rehearsing daily two weeks before the gig.
“We felt like we were ready and J.Lo, you know, is extremely disciplined and we were just hyped to be there and just killed it,” he added. “… It was just like happiness to enjoy the moment. [I was] super grateful to be there — it’s a dream to be there.”
The Colombian reggaeton singer's colorful Nike Jordans he sported during the show also mark another historical moment: The first time a Latino has collaborated on the famous sneakers.
“It’s a blessing, man,” he concluded. “It’s a blessing for the culture.”
