Granger Smith Finds Peace In New 'That's Why I Love Dirt Roads' Video

Granger Smith has shared the video for his latest, “That’s Why I Love Dirt Roads.” The track, released in October 2019, was the first new music from Smith since the tragic loss of his youngest son River in June 2019.

Smith previously said “That’s Why I Love Dirt Roads” is about "finding peace. Finding yourself. Finding God on a road that's rough around the edges just like us. It's about that rural sanctuary we all know so well behind a pair of headlights, a steering wheel and your heavy thoughts."

Smith continued on to point out that the cover for the song has several hidden tributes that most won’t notice at first. The same goes for the new video as well. While tributes to River aren't obvious, there are several subtle ways Smith honors his son throughout the clip.

Smith wears a red flannel shirt in the video which could be a reference to River's favorite color. It's the same shade the family chose for t-shirts made in his memory for various fundraisers. Additionally, the video show Smith planting a tree in the middle of dry land with a deer running up to overlook. This could symbolize growth in the midst of difficult times.

Smith and his wife Amber lost their three year old son, River after a tragic drowning accident in June 2019. In honor of their late son, the family launched the River Kelly Fund which helps provide financial support to causes and charities close to the family's heart.

The country singer has yet to reveal any definite tributes featured in the video, but until then, fans can watch and interpret the clip in their own way. Watch Smith's new video for "That's Why I Love Dirt Roads" below.
