Man Spots Optical Illusion On Mac Keyboard And Now It Can't Be Unseen

Believe it or not, you probably go through your day passing optical illusions and not even knowing it. It might be while looking at some wedding photos, or at a petting zoo, or just seeing a child snacking - the brain benders can happen at any time but are often missed if they aren't pointed out. Sometimes though, that's not a bad thing, which is the case with an optical illusion someone recently shared on Reddit.

The image shows the keyboard of a brand new Mac laptop the person bought. It's a close up of the number pad and shows the keys in black against the light grey keyboard, but if you look at it, there seem to be dark grey circles in between the keys.

It's called the Hermann Grid Illusion and in it, the contrast between the black and white areas make your eyes see grey circles.

It seems like a fun mind trick but commenters who own the same laptop aren't amused. One wrote, "I have the same laptop. Never noticed it until this post and now I cannot unsee it," and another said, "I hate you now. I didn't see it but now I can't stop seeing it." One other added, "I looked at it and didn’t get what you guys were talking about it, then looked at it again and now I can’t look at it without recoiling."

It's not the only optical illusion going around this week that is messing with people's minds. Another that shows some colored balls has been going viral because the balls are actually brown:

That illusion was created by an engineering professor in Texas named David Novick whose Twitter is filled with similar brain bending images. Check them out here.
