The Duke & Duchess Of Sussex Visit South Africa

Queen Elizabeth is trying to make amends with Prince Harry. Though there's reportedly been some tension between Her Majesty and the Duke of Sussex since he announced he'd be stepping down from his role within the Royal Family, the Queen wants to ensure her relationship with Prince Harry—thought to be her favorite grandchild—remains in tact.

Over the weekend, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Harry met up for a four hour lunch at Windsor Castle. A source told The Sun that Queen Elizabeth told her grandson that he and Meghan Markle are "much loved and will always be welcomed back" if they decided to resume their official roles within the House of Windsor.

“The Queen had a lot to talk to Harry about and this was the ideal time for them to both say their piece," the source continued. “When Harry and Meghan announced they wanted to quit it all happened very quickly and it was very stressful for all concerned. Sunday was the first time the Queen has had the chance to talk to Harry on his own and really find out what his plans are. It was a much more relaxed environment and they were both able to speak their mind.”

Not only is Queen Elizabeth concerned about her standing with her grandson, she's also “heartbroken over the thought of not getting to see her great-grandson,” another source told Us Weekly. Harry and Meghan have been living in Canada with their son Archie since November. While his parents have returned to the U.K. briefly since then, Archie has not. “The queen would love to have a relationship with Archie, but it’s looking unlikely that will ever happen.”

“The queen’s worst fear is that she may never see Archie again,” the source continued. “She’s trying to stay optimistic about this situation and would never stoop to casting any aspersions on Meghan’s character – even after everything that’s happened.”

Though it hasn't been confirmed, it's likely Archie will travel to the U.K. with Meghan as she and Harry fulfill their final royal engagements. Perhaps Archie will get to spend some quality time with his great-grandmother over the coming weeks.
