If anyone ever second-guessed the power of social media, then just tell them about this historic night - March 21st. On Saturday night, DJ D-Nice threw the most lit social distancing Instagram live party. If this party were in person, the line would be around the building five times. From celebrities like DJ Khaled, Justin Timberlake, Kim Kardashian, Queen Latifah, all the way to politicians like former First Lady Michelle Obama, Bernie Sanders, and Joe Biden. This event was one that you had to be at.

Bronx native, DJ D-Nice, hosted a virtual dance party, lasting hours. The Instagram live parties, dubbed "Homeschool social distancing dance party," began on Wednesday, March 18th, initially hosting a couple hundred of D-Nice's followers. By Saturday, that number grew to 100,000 as many around the world joined in.

"Best party of 1 and 100k I ever been to! Thanks @djdnice#ClubQuarantine," Media mogul, Oprah tweeted.

Many of those in California, New York, and most recently, Illinois, have been asked to stay at home following government mandate amid the novel coronavirus. While distanced apart, music has been the incredible medium bringing all together. DJ D-Nice was one of the first to start putting on Instagram live shows. His experience dates back to his 80's hip-hop crew, Boogie Down Productions

"Sitting at home during this quarantine, I started to feel empty," D-Nice told The New York Times. "There is nothing like playing the music and feeling the music."

Early into the show, D-Nice marveled at the growing number of viewers.

"We started this five days ago, and there were only 200 people in here." he explained. "And to see 20,000 people in here is amazing. Let's keep dancing!" Then he joked, "The line outside is crazy right now!"

At this point, Chaka Khan entered the live, requesting good old classics like "I'm Every Woman."

He made sure to give shoutouts and personalized messages to all notable figures joining in.

"One of my favorite artists is in here, Janet Jackson," D-Nice said while turning up. "We love you Janet. C'mon man. We love you. It's insane."

By 10 p.m., the Instagram live had over 80,000 people. Just before 10:30 p.m., the DJ broke an IG live record by having 100,000 live viewers watching.

"It's the biggest party in the world going on right now," he said, bouncing around. "Mark Zuckerberg what's up bro."
