After dissecting their iconic "Mr. Brightside" video for Vevo's "Watch This" series last week, The Killers' Brandon Flowers and Ronnie Vannucci gave fans the inside scoop on how their 2006 single "When You Were Young" and its corresponding music video came to be.

The video depicts a young wife coming home to find her husband in bed with another woman, and while the couple seems to reconcile by the end — there's an alternate ending that paints a gruesome picture.

“There’s an alt ending where she jumps [off the cliff] at the end," Vannucci divulged, "they couldn’t show that on MTV. Too heavy. And just as well, I don’t think it does anything either way to the story."

As for the song itself, singer Brandon Flowers revealed it focused around the guitar riff and lyrics “He doesn’t look a thing like Jesus, but he acts like a gentleman.” Once unlocking those parts of the song, the rest came naturally and swiftly — it only took 15-20 minutes to write.

Although they've been reminiscing about the past lately, The Killers are gearing up to release their sixth studio album Imploding The Mirage, which should be coming out sometime this year.
