Starbucks faced backlash last week after telling their employees in an internal memo, published by Buzzfeed News, that they couldn't wear any Black Lives Matter apparel at work. The coffee chain was called out for hypocrisy because they publicly showed support for the social justice movement on their social media channels.

Starbucks quickly walked back their internal policy after the backlash. “Our partners (employees) told us that they need a way to express themselves at work and we heard them,” Starbucks wrote on Twitter in response to the criticism. They also shared that the Starbucks Black Partner Network co-designed t-shirts with a Black Lives Matter graphic that will distributed to employees at Starbucks locations across the country.

For some, however, this move was too little too late. One of those people, it seems, is Ariana Grande. Following the backlash, Grande unfollowed Starbucks on Instagram. She then shared a photo of an iced coffee from Nimbus Coffee in Los Angeles on her Instagram Story.

While Grande hasn't officially commented on the Starbucks controversy, fans have taken this as an indirect dig at the coffee chain. Grande has previously collaborated with Starbucks on the Cloud Macchiato, as well.

Grande has been vocal about her support for the Black Lives Matter movement on social media. She's been encouraging her massive fan base to register to vote, as well as praising those who have shown up to protest against police brutality.
