Florence, Oregon's New Park Named After 1970's Exploding Whale

Florence, Oregon has a new park that they named “Exploding Whale Memorial Park”. If you lived in Oregon in 1970 like I did, you know the story, but in a nutshell, a dead whale washed up on the beach in Florence, and as it rotted, authorities needed to figure out a way to get rid of it; they used dynamite, too much dynamite. The true story is one of Oregon's more infamous.
