Darius Rucker and his wife, Beth Leonard, are going their separate ways after 20 years of marriage.
The country rocker broke the news of their choice to consciously uncouple on Saturday (July 11) in a joint statement on social media. Taking to Twitter to thank fans for supporting his family, Rucker shared, "Beth and I would like to share that after much reflection, we have made the decision to consciously uncouple. We remain close friends and parenting partners and continue to be each other’s biggest cheerleaders. Our priority will always be our beautiful family."
Rucker added, “We have so much love in our hearts for each other and will continue to encourage growth and expansion in one other. Please be kind as we take on this journey, and we thank you for your love and support always."
The Hootie & the Blowfish frontman met Leonard in 1998 when she was working for VH1 in New York City. The couple wed two years later and share two children together, 19-year-old daughter Daniella and 15-year-old son Jack. Rucker also has a 25-year-old daughter named Carolyn, whom he shares with ex-girlfriend Elizabeth Ann Phillips.
Rucker and Leonard’s divorce news is the latest in a series of recent celebrity breakups, including Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock, Kacey Musgraves and Ruston Kelly, and Carly Pearce and Michael Ray.
