It's been nine years since Gotye released his Grammy-Award winning hit song "Somebody That I Used To Know," and now, multi-platinum certified Canadian rock band Three Days Grace have put their spin on the chart-topping track, and have shared the cover as their latest release.

Three Days Grace's version of "Somebody That I Used To Know" kicks it up several notches from Gotye's original, with soaring guitars and heavy drums in the chorus, while still singing the original lyrics.

In a statement, the band's Matt Walst said of their new cover, "The first time I heard 'Somebody That I Used to Know' I got goosebumps! This has only happened to me a few times in my life. I remember listening to it over and over and just being happy. Music releases a mood enhancing chemical in the brain that can set good moods and peak enjoyment. Music is truly the best drug!"

"Somebody That I Used To Know" also comes with an official music video, directed by Mike Filsinger. In the clip, fans can see the band animated in black and white on a movie theater screen as they perform the song.

Three Days Grace released their last album, Outsider, in 2018, which featured singles including "The Mountain," "Infra-Red" and "Right Left Wrong." The album also gave the band their 14th No. 1 single with "Infra-Red," which broke Van Halen's two-decade record of topping the chart.

At the beginning of the year, Three Days Grace hinted that they had begun working on their seventh album and followup to Outsider. On Instagram, the band shared a photo of their studio and captioned it, "Studio is ready for writing...let’s do this! #numberseven #3dg4life."

The band shared another studio update just a few weeks ago, with another shot while recording, along with the caption, "studio today."
