Toni Braxton is speaking out following her sister Tamar Braxton’s recent health scare.
The R&B legend took to social media this week to remind followers of the power of family with an uplifting message on Instagram last night (July 29). “Family is everything! Especially sisters!” the “Un-Break My Heart” musician captioned a group shot of her posing among her Braxton family relatives, including sisters Traci, 49, Towanda, 46, Trina, 45 Tamar, 43, and their mother, Evelyn Braxton, 72.
Toni’s post is the first we’ve seen from the musician since Tamar was rushed to the hospital on July 16 after she was found unresponsive for a possible overdose in the hotel room she was sharing with boyfriend David Adefeso.
At the time, it was reported that the “Love and War” powerhouse may have attempted suicide, as The Blast reported that Adefeso called 911 saying Tamar had been drinking prior and had swallowed an unknown amount of prescription pills. After being transported to a nearby hospital, it was revealed that the Braxton Family Values star had been taken to a "new hospital specializing in mental health care.”
"Tamar is not out of the woods by any means. Doctors are still keeping a very close eye on her for her safety," a source said of Tamar’s condition to E! News. "Tamar has been committed to working on her mental health for some time, but she experienced some setbacks during the last year, finding quarantine to be particularly difficult."
Since her hospitalization, WeTV, the network behind the Braxton’s family reality show, delayed the premiere of Tamar’s new series,Tamar Braxton: Get Ya Life! until September. Additionally, Adefeso also came forward with a statement of his own pertaining to Tamar's health condition.
