It's been more than three years since Phoenix released their sixth studio album Ti Amo, and on Wednesday (August 19) the band made its triumphant return with a new track called "Identical."

The song is featured in the trailer and end credits of Sofia Coppola's upcoming film On The Rocks, and marks the fifth cinematic collaboration between the band and director since she first used their song “Too Young” in 2003's Lost In Translation. In addition to the track, Phoenix also wrote the movie's score and curated its soundtrack.

On The Rocks stars Bill Murray, Rashida Jones, and Marlon Wayans. "Faced with sudden doubts about her marriage, a young New York mother (Jones) teams up with her larger-than-life playboy father (Murray) to tail her husband (Wayans) in this bittersweet comedy," the film's description reads.

On The Rocks comes out in October. Listen to "Identical" and watch the movie trailer below.

Though they haven't officially announced their seventh album, Phoenix revealed "Identical" will most likely be on it even if it doesn't have the same sonic feel as other tracks on the project.

"There’s no coherence and it’s a little bit like our first record, maybe; United, which had songs that would explore heavy metal and then country music," singer Thomas Mars explained during a recent interview (via SPIN). "And then this is the same sort of weird Frankenstein of an album.”
