A Delaware man was arrested by the state police after they found him slumped over his riding lawn mower on the side of the road. As officers responded to the first call about a man lying in a grassy knoll, they received more reports that he had been driving through people's yards and acting disorderly.
As officers approached the man, identified as 60-year-old Ralph J. Cahall, they could smell alcohol on his breath and took him into custody after a brief struggle.
He was booked on charges of driving under the influence, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and criminal trespass. It was the fifth time that Cahall has been charged with drunk driving. He is being held at Sussex Correctional Institution on a $7,101 bond.
Officials did not say if he caused any property damage while riding through people's yards.
