Bastille released their sophomore album on September 9, 2016, on on Wednesday (September 9), frontman Dan Smith took to Instagram to reminisce about that the band's "big old 3-year-in-the-making sprawling b**tard second album."

"Mad to see that it’s been 4 whole years since we released 'Wild World', that big old 3-year-in-the-making sprawling b**tard second album of ours," he wrote alongside a series of photos from that particular era in the band's career. "It blows my mind to look back on the massive WWCOMMS tours, festivals, pop-up shops, music videos and all the online stuff we made alongside the album to bring the super cheery dystopian stuff to life. At the time I was so busy and caught up in the midst of it all that I don’t think I appreciated quite how much we were able to pull off! Massive thanks to everyone involved in that era - creatively, logistically or as a fan."

Bastille released a new single "What You Gonna Do???" in August, after dropping their third album Doom Days last year.

“We wanted to make something totally different and we’re hoping to constantly surprise you guys with everything we do next,” the band wrote in a note to email subscribers about the song when it came out. “Making this music has been a brilliant distraction for us during what has been a f***ing weird year for everyone, and hopefully the song is a raucous, loud 2 minutes of eye-rolling escapism for you.”

“The song tells a few little stories that all center around how weird it is to have everybody and everything fighting for our attention, our eyes and ears, all the time,” the note continued. “It’s a challenge to those people to offer something a bit better, funnier and more worthwhile once they’ve got us listening.”
