Money magazine named Rockwall, Texas the #4 best place to live in America in 2020. Rockwall is the only Texas location to make the magazine's top 10.

This is Rockwall's first year making the list. Money reporters chose the Dallas suburb because it is one of the fastest growing cities in the state.

The suburb's strong economy is also what helped it secure its spot at #4. Its unemployment rate is on par with the state's 6.8% unemployment, but Rockwall residents have a higher than average household income. The median household income is $101,000 compared to the state's $67,000.

Money also noted the suburb's waterfront harbor district, its walk-able downtown, and its small town feel. Rockwall's population is only 49,000.

The magazine only chose two locations per state, and New Braunfels was their second choice for Texas. It's #25. Money noted that real estate is much less expensive there compared to neighboring Austin and San Antonio. New Braunfels being home to Schlitterbahn, Gruene Hall, and tubing in the Comal River adds to its appeal.

The 50 cities on the list were chosen based on a variety of factors, but in particular the local economy, housing market, cost of living, diversity, and safety. All chosen cities had to have a population over 25,000 and a low crime rate.
