Actor Andres Perez-Molina was released from Broward Health North on Saturday (September 26) after suffering a spinal injury, according to Local 10 on Sunday (September 27).
The actor said he was diagnosed with a spinal contusion that made him faint and hit his head on his patio floor.
“I couldn’t move anything other than my right toes,” Perez-Molina said. "Never had an injury like this before. I was in shock and I didn’t know what was going to happen."
He added that he was nearly paralyzed by the injury.
Local 10 footage showed Perez-Molina being brought out in a wheelchair, nurses and doctors clapping for him as he was wheeled out of the facility.
Perez-Molina was able to regain the ability to walk after 30 days of hospitalization and "rigorous" physical therapy, Local 10 reported. On the station's broadcast, the actor was able to stand up and walk away from his wheelchair.
“The doctors, the staff, the nurses, they all gave me good, tough love, which I needed in rehab,” he explained. "That's not as much as, 'No, that's okay.' 'No. You want this? Go get it.'"
The actor has performed on several television shows and multiple feature films, including The Dark Knight Rises.
