Due to the coronavirus pandemic, school is looking a lot different this year for students all across the globe. Some schools have students learning from home, some have welcomed students back into the classroom, and others are working on a hybrid schedule of the two.
Wallethub recently released a study called "2020's Safest States for Schools to Reopen."
The website compared all 50 states using 15 key metrics. These metrics included things such as the number of COVID-19 cases in children per 100,000 kids, the average public school size across the state, and the ratio of students to school nurses in each school.
Arizona was way down at the bottom of the list. The state ranked number 48 out of 50, beating only South Carolina at number 49 and Mississippi at number 50.
The safest states, according to the study, were Vermont in 1st, Maine in 2nd, and Pennsylvania in 3rd.
Arizona ranked number 47 in the most child COVID-19 cases per 100,000 children, and was tied for number 40 in the most child COVID-19 deaths per 100,000 children.
Surprisingly, Arizona ranked number one as the least overall likelihood of COVID-19 infections when comparing the average number of people to whom an infected person will transmit the COVID-19 virus.
