With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, holiday participants will have to celebrate by following social distancing protocols. Still, many are planning to participate in holiday festivities, whether in person or via Zoom.
New Orleans is no exception. While Bourbon Street may not be as crowded as past years, there will still be plenty of Louisianans dressing up in 2020.
Google has put together a list of the most popular Halloween costumes based on searches in different areas, which includes a breakdown of the most popular costumes in states and cities.
So what's the most searched costume in New Orleans?
Cheerleader.
The cheerleader costume is not only the most popular costume search in New Orleans, but was also the 17th most searched costume nationally.
The cheerleader costume was also extremely popular in other major cities, with its top five most frequent searches coming from: New York, New Orleans, Los Angeles, Dallas-Ft. Worth and Baton Rouge, which had raccoon as its most popular choice. According to Google, profession costumes make up 10% of all costume searches nationally.
