Want To Really Get Away From It All? A Missile Silo Could Be Your New Home

This year has been trash, and there's another month and a half and a presidential election until 2020 is over. If all of that still sounds terrible and you really need to get away from it all, there's a place in Arizona for that.
For $475,000, you can own a former missile silo in Benson, Arizona, that comes with more than 14 acres of land. It has gorgeous views of the southern Arizona desert and the Rincon and Dragoon Mountains. Above ground, you won't see another person around for miles.
Below ground, it's the ultimate fixer upper. The silo was decommissioned in the 1980s, and it's a little spooky down there since it's been closed up since 2016 to keep out trespassers.
The underground bunker located at 980 N Sibyl Road is one of 18 missile silos built around Tucson during the Cold War, according to AZFamily. As is, the bunker is a time capsule for a period when people feared that the U.S. could be bombed.
The potential for what the silo can become is limitless. Other decommissioned silos across the country have been turned into luxury homes or a historical Airbnb.
While the silo will need a lot of work to make it livable, there is definitely a market for these. Real estate agent Grant Hampton has already sold two for $420,000 and $500,000.
