A missing teenager from Smyrna considered to be an endangered runaway is believed to be in Nashville, according to Smyrna Police.

Maximous Khalil, 17, was last seen leaving his job in Smyrna on October 11 and texted his family he was taking a break from them, the department announced. Smyrna Police said Khalil last contacted his family via text message on Thursday.

Khalil is believed to be driving a silver 2008 Toyota Camry with TN tag T0852R in the Nashville area. Police said he is 5'4, 110 lbs and has black hair and brown eyes.

A photo from his driver's license was shared by the department.

There are currently 16 unsolved cases of missing children in the state of Tennessee reported by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation dating back to 2004.

The TBI has not shared information regarding Khalil's disappearance as of Friday morning. The TBI is the missing children's clearinghouse for the state, and is the only agency in the state that can issue an AMBER Alert.

Each state has different criteria for missing children alerts.

Smyrna Police are asking for public assistance in locating Khalil. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Smyrna Police Department at (615)-459-6644 or Detective Kate Armstrong directly at (615)-267-5012 or via email at kate.armstrong@townofsmyrna.org.
