Hate is a strong word, but some people really don't like certain states. Residents and rivals may have similar thoughts when it comes to these states, according a study.

Best Life made a ranking index of the most and least hated states in America based on multiple factors, such as population changes, state pride and more. The list goes from least hated (No. 50) to most hated (No. 1), and Florida was in the top ranks. In fact, it was No. 5.

The article said the Sunshine State saw more people moving out than settling in. Over 15 million people hate Florida, particularly in Georgia and Alabama, the study found. Florida's state pride was at 46 percent, as well. According to a Gallup poll Best Life referenced, "state pride" is the amount of people who agreed with the the statement that their state is "the best or one of the best possible states to live." The lower the state pride, the more likely it will be ranked higher.

"In the end, the top 10 most hated states spanned every region, from the East Coast to the South. (Yes, even the Midwest isn't as nice as you thought.) But one state drew the most vitriol of them all," Alex Daniel wrote, referring to New Jersey. The Garden State was ranked at No. 1, followed by Texas (No. 2), California (No. 3) and Oklahoma (No. 4).
