Another San Francisco Icon Goes By The Wayside
October 28, 2020
After more than 80 years of being part of the San Francisco skyline, the lighted Coca-Cola billboard at the foot of the Bay Bridge will be a thing of the past.
Coke sites the soaring rental cost of the property on which the sign is mounted, and will pay $100,000 to have the sign removed. It was one of the oldest active commercial signs in San Francisco history. In fact, it was built only a year AFTER the Bay Bridge opened!
