A new mural featuring San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Becky Hammon went up on the northeast side last week.
The mural shows a young girl wearing a Hammon jersey looking up at the former WNBA player who graces the city's skyline with the word's "Never Stop" above her head.
It's a nod to her role as a trailblazer in women's and men's professional basketball. Hammon was one of the first WNBA All Stars, and she is the second woman to coach in NBA history through her role with the Spurs.
French-American artist Sebastien Boileau said on Instagram on Monday that he painted the mural, which is near 7718 Broadway.
"becky isn’t just a bad ass on the court playing or coaching, but she is also one of the nicest person I have ever met ! #teamBecky !" the artist wrote in his post.
Boileau and the mural will both be featured later this month on 60 Second Docs, San Antonio Current reported.
"A vibrant artistic city, San Antonio makes no qualms about celebrating its icons, as evidenced by the murals of Spurs stars, past and present," Boileau told the magazine in a statement as to why he painted the mural.
"And so, it’s only fitting that Becky, an icon in her own right, be honored with a piece of public art that commemorates her passion and commitment to this city. Beyond that, Becky’s a trailblazer — a beam of light showing all of us what’s possible and paving the way for the young women of the future."
