Austin-based chain Snap Kitchen is closing 14 of its Texas locations because of the pandemic.
"Unfortunately, Snap Kitchen was not immune to the effects of the pandemic and, in order to survive as a company, we’ve had to make the incredibly tough decision to shutter the majority of our stores and say goodbye to many of our dedicated employees," CEO Anthony Smith wrote in a blog post on Friday.
Snap Kitchen sells healthy, packaged meals that customers reheat at home. It has brick-and-mortar stores but also sells meals at Whole Foods and online through plans targeting people with specific diets.
The stores that are closing are
- Austin:
- Avery Ranch
- DFW:
- Addison
- Fitzhugh
- Shops at Legacy
- Uptown
- Oak Lawn
- Southlake
- Houston:
- Memorial Park
- Memorial Villages
- Katy Greenhouse
- The Heights
- Baybrook
- Museum District
- Tanglewood
The stores will close for good on November 7. Smith did not say how many people are being laid off because of the store closures.
Snap Kitchen also shuttered its stores in the Philadelphia area in an effort to downsize.
