Eric Church offered a live debut of his new song, "Hell Of A View" during the 2020 CMA Awards on Wednesday night (November 11).
The mid-tempo track, written by Church alongside Casey Beathard and Monty Criswell, depicts a "reckless" couple who leaves their hometown to chase their dreams together.
"This ain't for everybody / Toes hanging off the ledge / Like we got nothing to lose," Church sings in the chorus, accompanied by longtime backing singer Joanna Cotten. "Ain't always heaven baby / This living on the edge / You holding me holding you / It's a hell of a view."
"Hell Of A View" is one of the 28 new songs Church wrote and recorded earlier this year for his yet-to-be-titled new upcoming album. He's also already shared several other new singles including "Through My Ray-Bans," "Stick That In Your Country Song," "Bad Mother Trucker" and "Crazyland."
Church is also nominated for two CMA Awards, including Male Vocalist of The Year and Entertainer Of The Year. A complete list of winners for the night be seen here.
The 54th Annual CMA Awards also featured performances from Chris Stapleton, Rascal Flatts, Morgan Wallen, Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris, Luke Combs, Jon Pardi, Keith Urban, Jimmie Allen, Ingrid Andress, Little Big Town, Old Dominion and Kelsea Ballerini. Additionally, the show opener featured an all-star performance from Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Brothers Osborne, Jenee Fleenor and Ashley McBryde paying tribute to the late Charlie Daniels.
Reba McEntire and Darius Rucker hosted “Country Music’s Biggest Night" which aired on Wednesday, November 11 on ABC.
