Jean Trebek is thanking her Jeopardy! family for their support after her difficult loss.

Jean, the late wife of Alex Trebek, broke her silence this week following the unfortunate passing of her husband, the beloved game show host, who died of stage four pancreatic cancer at 80 years old this Sunday (November 8).

“My family and I sincerely thank you all for your compassionate messages and generosity,” Jean, 56, captioned a heartwarming photo from the couple’s wedding day. “Your expressions have truly touched our hearts. Thank you so very, very much. Many Blessings to all, Jean Trebek.”

Alex, who wed Jean in 1990, is also survived by the couple’s two children: son Matthew and daughter Emily.

As Jeopardy! fans know, the revered television icon announced his cancer diagnosis in March 2019. “I’m going to fight this and I’m going to keep working,” he told audiences at the time. "I plan to beat the low survival rates for this disease. … So help me, keep the faith and we'll win, we'll get it done."

After a year-long fight with the disease, Alex “peacefully” passed away surrounded by loved ones.

The following day, the long-standing Jeopardy! host was given a tribute at the top of the show’s first episode of its new season.

“This is an enormous loss for our staff, crew, for his family, for his millions of fans. He loved this show and everything it stood for. In fact, he taped his final episodes less than two weeks ago,” said executive producer Mike Richards, fighting back tears. “He will forever be an inspiration for his constant desire to learn, his kindness and for his love of his family. We will air his final 35 episodes as they were shot. That’s what he wanted. On behalf of everyone here at Jeopardy!, thank you for everything Alex. This is Jeopardy!
