Macy's is gearing up for the holiday season in Fresno. The department store is looking to hire over 130 seasonal workers to help out with holiday crowds.

According to their website, they are looking to fill seasonal positions in retail sales and retail support at the Fashion Fair Mall and River Park locations. All of the positions are part-time.

The store will be holding a "Macy's Holiday Hiring Event" today, Thursday November 12. This will take place simultaneously at the Fashion Fair Mall location and the River Park location. The teams will be conducting phone interviews during this event from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. However, if an applicant isn't available today, they can schedule for a later date.

The holiday season will likely bring in more jobs to the Fresno area. Like most places in America, Fresno County employment rates have plummeted with the unprecedented impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

With the county returning to purple-Tier 1 status in the coming weeks, there could be more job losses to come.

The unemployment rate in Fresno County was 10.4 percent in September of 2020, way above the 5.6 percent that the California Labor Market expected it to be a year ago.

Between August and September, the total industry employment in Fresno County decreased by 900 jobs.
