Harry Styles delivered a heavenly acoustic performance for Vogue.
Early this morning (November 13), the renowned fashion magazine unveiled Styles as the cover star for its upcoming December 2020 issue. It's a big deal, as the superstar makes history as the mag's first-ever solo male cover star.
In addition to his interview for the profile story, the 26-year-old blessed Vogue with an enchanting on-the-spot performance of his song, “Cherry.”
Dressed in a Lacey Bode shirt, Eliou necklace and armed with his Fender acoustic, Styles sounded as dreamy as ever singing the romantic tune while strumming the chords on his guitar. The performance was made even more special with behind-the-scenes footage from his Vogue photo shoot, which was set against the picturesque vista of the Seven Sisters cliffs in Sussex, England.
As Stylers know, “Cherry” appears from the crooner’s sophomore studio album, Fine Line. Styles wrote the record about his ex-girlfriend, French-American model Camille Rowe, following their July 2018 breakup. Added fun fact: Rowe’s voice appears in a dialogue in the outro section of the song.
In a 2019 interview, Styles revealed he wrote the track in a single night. “I wanted to be true to [the breakup]. I wanted it to be true to how I was feeling then, in that moment,” Styles said at the time. “It was all part of being more open and not like, ‘I don’t care.’"
"You get petty when something’s not going the way that you want, and ‘Cherry' is pathetic in a way," he admitted. "The night that I wrote it, everyone had left the studio, it was me, Tyler and Sammy, who is our engineer.”
Styles’ Fine Line became the pop star’s second consecutive No. 1 album following the release of his 2017 self-titled debut LP.
