Colorado is known for its gorgeous scenery and outdoor activities, especially world class skiing.
A new study shows that six Colorado ski resorts rank within the top 10 for skiing in the United States, confirming that there is no better place in the U.S. when it comes to the sheer variety and quality of skiing.
Koala, a company that connects travelers to timeshare owners, created The American Ski Index by analyzing over 450 ski resorts across the United States.
Resorts are ranked based on their length of slopes, number of ski lifts, adult ski pass prices, review scores, number of Instagram hashtags, and the total snowfall for the 2019/20 ski season.
According to The American Ski Index, Vail Ski Resort in Eagle County is second best ski resort in the country.
With 25 lifts and 591 cm of snowfall in 2019 to 2020, Vail was rated America's Best Reviewed Ski Resort. Vail had an overall score of 67.98, just nine points away from Park City, Utah's score, which earned them the number one spot.
Right behind Vail, Winter Park Resort and Breckenridge came in at third and fourth. With an impressive 651 cm and 724 cm of snowfall and 4.6 and 4.2 review scores respectively, Winter Park and Breckenridge earned their spots in the top 5 best ski resorts in the country.
The top 10 list is rounded out by Snowmass at number seven, Telluride at number eight, and Keystone at number nine.
Other Colorado resorts that made it into the top 20 include Beaver Creek, Steamboat, Copper Mountain, and Wolf Creek.
