Two local restaurants are holding fundraisers to help the officers who were shot at a Gastonia nightclub last week. Sammy's Neighborhood Pub in Belmont and Webb Custom Kitchen in Gastonia will each donate a portion of sales on Wednesday, November 18, to aid in the officers' recoveries.

"Lots of times when something like this happens, community members ay, well we want to do something, but they don't know how," said John Bailey, owner of Sammy's Neighborhood Pub in Belmont. "So this is just a conduit for people to come in and all they really have to do is come in and eat and we take care of the rest."

Both restaurants will donate $5 for every special ordered on Wednesday and present the funds to the Gastonia Police Department on behalf of Officer M. Lewis and Sgt. E. Nelson. At Sammy's, T-shirts will also be available for purchase, and $5 of each of those sales will also go toward the officers. Those wishing to make a donation can do so at either restaurant until Thursday.

Six people were shot outside of Remedies Nightclub in Gastonia on November 12. Everyone who was shot, including the two officers, received non-life threatening injuries. Alonzo Lewis Hamilton and Allen Slaughter were arrested and charged with six felony counts each of Assault With A Deadly Weapon with Intent To Kill. They were each being held on a $1 million bond.
