Frank Iero And The Future Violence Announce New EP, Share R.E.M. Cover

Frank Iero is back with some new music and this time with another new band name.

On Thursday (November 19), Iero took to social media to announce Frank Iero And The Future Violence's forthcoming EP, Heaven Is A Place, This Is A Place, which features three original songs and a cover of R.E.M.'s “Losing My Religion.”

If you've been keeping track of Iero's constant name changes to the band, The Future Violence follows-up The Future Violents which also saw the Patients, the Patience, and the Cellebrations.

“The Heaven EP takes you from the initial spark of the FV, to the lingering smoke. 3 original songs... paired with a cover of REM’s ‘Losing My Religion’ recorded at BBC’s Maida Vale studios,” he wrote in an Instagram post.

As for the EP's name, Iero actually got inspiration from it in an unlikely place: a drink menu.

“There was a drink called Heaven is a place/This is the place,” he said in a press release. “The name struck me as clever and I started to think about how changing one word in that title meant something way more profound to me. Heaven is a place, if you believe in that sort of thing…It is the reward at the end of a long hard journey of fighting the good fight and living your life to whatever standards you hold dear. But it’s just a place. And so is this…This is a place, the earthly realm, miraculous on so many levels but also just a place. The difference is you and your perception.”

The Future Violence released their take on R.E.M.'s 1991 classic and it's safe to say it's already a fan-favorite. “The harmonies the vocals this cover is incredible,” one fan commented on YouTube while another wrote, “This is so beautiful. I never knew I needed this cover so much!”
