Jonathan Tynes took father-son bonding to the next level.
He and his son Hunter, 5, are now sporting the same haircut, notable for its lighting-bolt pattern on the sides.
Tynes said he got the haircut to help quell his son’s insecurities about the pattern in his hair.
Hunter’s pattern comes from a surgery he had to have when he was just under two years old. The scars were supposed to be concealed under his hair once it grew back, but the ones on the sides didn’t heal like the scar on top did. Recently, Hunter hasn’t been very comfortable with that, KMOV explained Thursday morning (November 19).
That’s how Tynes decided it was time for a trip to the barber shop.
Tynes said Hunter knew about his plans to get the same zig-zag shape on the sides of his head on their way to the barber shop, and he was “pretty stoked” about it.
Now, instead of feeling self conscious, Hunter goes around telling people about their matching lighting-bolt haircuts, Tynes said.
And Tynes thinks he’ll have to get used to it for a while.
Getting the haircut did such a great job at stomping out Hunter’s insecurity about his scars that “now (Hunter) said he wants me to have these forever.”
Hunter told KMOV his dad is his "best friend."
