A New England Christmas lights display was listed among the best in the world.

Conde Nast Traveler included Gardens Aglow at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay, Maine on its list of the 22 most spectacular holiday light displays in the world. Gardens Aglow was the only New England based display included on the list.

“These aren’t your average neighborhood Christmas decorations,” Conde Nast Traveler wrote of the displays included. “We’re talking 80-foot trees, illuminated ice skating rinks, and twinkle lights so impressive that they set actual world records.”

According to Conde Nast Traveler, Gardens Aglow was included for the following:

“A major draw to coastal Maine, even in the winter season, is the botanical gardens. At 295 acres, they’re the largest in New England. From Thanksgiving to Christmas, the native Maine flora is strung with an awe-inspiring light display. … Note: This year’s show will be a drive-thru experience.”

Gardens Aglow will also allow visitors to enjoy exploring the region to view entries in its Lighting Contest. Winners of the contest will be chosen by popular vote in a text-to-vote platform, according to Maine Gardens' official website.

All tickets must be purchased in advance this year and no admission tickets will be sold onsite.
