Safety has been a recurring concern this year for Americans. Not only has the coronavirus pandemic changed how we conduct our lives, but issues like natural disasters, crime, health care availability and other concerns have been at the forefront of people's minds.
While danger isn't completely avoidable, one website wanted to see where Americans felt the most secure across the nation.WalletHub, a personal finance website, looked at more than 180 U.S. cities across "42 key indicators of safety."
How did Seattle fare on this list? According to the website, they ranked the Emerald City at No. 116. While that does put the city in the middle section of the list, it came in at No. 5 for financial safety!
Other Washington cities were also featured on the list. Vancouver was the highest ranked one at No. 14. Spokane came in at No. 55, and Tacoma was listed at No. 139. Portland (No. 79) was higher than Seattle and Tacoma, but lower than Spokane and Vancouver.
"Our data set ranges from COVID-19 cases in the past seven days per 100,000 residents and assaults per capita to the unemployment rate and road quality," Adam McCann wrote.
