DC Comics have expanded their roster of superheros with another non-binary character named Kid Quick.
As per Deadline, the new character uses they/them pronouns and will move like The Flash with superfast speed. From an alternate universe, they're set to make their comic book debut in the upcoming holiday-themed DC's Merry Multiverse, which is later this month. Additionally, Kid Quick will make an appearance as The Flash in the forthcoming series Future State: Justice League. They were created by Ivan Cohen and Eleonora Carlini, along with the rest of Teen Justice, and initially meant to be a one-off character before DC saw their potential.
"I suggested that Kid Quick could be Earth-11's first genderfluid character, and once editors saw Eleonora Carlini's terrific take on the character design, there was suddenly a lot of interest in them for stories beyond the Merry Multiverse special in December," Cohen told ScreenRant at the top of November.
Elsewhere in the DC roster of nonbinary characters include The Aerie from Suicide Squad and Marvel Comics' Snowflake and Safespace.
DC Comics is introducing its first non-binary character in “Kid Quick,” who will appear next month in a holiday-themed comic book anthology called “DC’s Merry Multiverse.”
