The COVID-19 pandemic forced many Americans home this year. When there's little to do at home, watching TV, Netflix or some other streaming service seems like the next option. Good thing there were many options, from The Witcher and The Crown on Netflix to Hulu's Little Fires Everywhere and small-screen classics. But how much watch time has people wracked up in 2020?
Well, VerizonSpecials.com set forth to find out. This is the second time researchers determined which states watch the most TV. Here's what researchers found out about Florida:
- Floridians on average watch over three hours and 30 minutes of programming.
- Their preferred programming are telenovelas. They also share this with Texas and California.
- The Sunshine State ranked No. 39 overall compared to other states in watch time. That means they tend to watch a little more TV than the rest of the nation.
Data shows that U.S. citizens overall watched 17 percent more TV than they did compared to their 2019 report. If you're wondering which state who is sitting in front of a screen longer than others, the answer is Mississippi. Residents in the Magnolia State are consuming over four hours and 22 minutes of TV on average. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Alaskans on average watch over two hours and 38 minutes of TV.
Whether you're watching on a classic television or tuning in on your phone or laptop, at least the catalog of programs can keep your attention away from the chaos of 2020.
