With many families around the country unable to celebrate together during the holidays this year because of the coronavirus pandemic, Zoom is making it easier for them to stay in touch by lifting its 40-minute time limit for free users.
Starting at 10 a.m. ET on Wednesday, December. 23 all users will be able to chat with their family and friends for as long as they like. The unlimited video calls will be available until 6 a.m. ET on Saturday, December 26.
"COVID-19 has changed how we live, work, and celebrate in 2020, and like everything else this year, the holiday season doesn't look the same," the company said in a blog post. "As a token of appreciation to our users during an extraordinary time, we're removing the 40-minute limit on free Zoom accounts for all meetings globally for several upcoming special occasions."
The company will also allow unlimited video calls from 10 a.m. ET on Wednesday, December 30, to 6 a.m. ET on Saturday, January 2, allowing people to ring in 2021 together.
To help you get in the holiday spirit, Zoom is also offering festive virtual backgrounds and video filters.
