General Motors announced a recall of nearly 840,000 vehicles in the United States because of issues related to the suspension and the seat belts. The seat belt recall covers 624,000 vehicles including the 2019-2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the GMC Sierra 1500. The recall only impacts pickup trucks with split-bench seats. Trucks with bucket seats are not being recalled. The recall also includes the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, along with the GMC Yukon XL, and the 2020 and 2021 Silverado 2500 and 3500, and the GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500.

The carmaker said that the seat belt brackets may not have been secured to the seat frame and could fail to restrain passengers involved in a crash. The company has not received any reports of injuries due to the issue. GM said it will contact owners in February to set up appointments for their vehicles to be inspected and repaired.

GM said it is also recalling 213,000 vehicles in states that use salt on the roads during the winter because the rear toe links can rust and fail. The recall covers the 2012 and 2013 Buick Regal, the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu, and the 2010 through 2013 Buick Lacrosse. It applies to all vehicles registered or sold in the following states: Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Washington, D.C.

GM said it will notify owners in February and should have replacement parts available by March.
